Copmanthorpe U16 Girls 1 - 4 SWRFC U16
Girls Sherburn celebrated winning the league with a convincing victory at Copmanthorpe. Strikers Lizzie Hare and Amy Lawrence shared the spoils with two goals apiece whilst Rosie Bradley and Hayley Lewis also came close to adding to Sherburn's tally. Copmanthorpe's consolation came in the form of an own goal from a corner. Rianne Weavill and Rhiannon Spencer provided stout defence and Lucy Beilby and Katie Sadler shared goalkeeping and midfield duties confidently between them. Player of the Match was Hannah Davis whose midfield running and tackling gelled together attack and defence to produce the ideal end to Sherburn's hugely enjoyable and successful five seasons in the York Girls League. |

SWRFC U16
Girls 4 - 1 Whitley Wolverines U16 Girls Sherburn maintained their 100% home record in their final game on their own pitch, although the scoreline did not reflect the closeness of the match. Rose went ahead with an unfortunate own goal as both sides struggled to get to grips with the muddy, wet conditions. Player of the Match Amy Lawrence capped a good all-round performance with two well taken goals which sandwiched a rare foray onto the scoresheet from Lucy Beilby. The first half saw plenty of endeavour from the visitors but they were denied many goalscoring opportunities by Hayley Lewis, Rhiannon Spencer and keeper Katie Sadler. Although Sherburn failed to add to their tally in the second half, good passing from Lizzie Hare together with hard work from Hannah Davis and Rosie Bradley meant that the threat from the home side never diminished. Whitley got their just reward with a well taken consolation goal to make the final score 4-1 and seal the league title for Rose for the second successive year. |

SWRFC U16 Girls 1 - 0 Tadcaster
U16 Girls Tadcaster made Sherburn work hard for their win in an entertaining, well-balanced contest. Rosie Bradley saw her long-range dipping effort fly just over the crossbar and strikers Amy Lawrence and Lizzie Hare went close on several occasions but were continually thwarted by an outstanding Tadcaster keeper. Rhiannon Spencer and Lucy Beilby defended strongly to deny the visitors any real scoring opportunities and the teams went in level at half-time. Sherburn pushed forward immediately in the second half leaving Katie Sadler little to do in the home goal but Tadcaster continued to frustrate the Rose girls and it looked like they would have to settle for a draw. Player of the match Hayley Lewis had other ideas, however, and beat 3 players to coolly slot the ball home and make it 1-0 to Sherburn. Hannah Davis came close to adding a second in the closing minutes but in the end the home side were happy to take the points from their closest rivals. |

Bishopthorpe
U16 Girls 1 – 4 SWRFC U16 Girls
Sherburn combined hard work and clinical finishing to secure a good win and maintain their position at the top of the table. The home side started brightly and defenders Hayley Lewis and Rhiannon Spencer had to be at thier best to deny Bishopthorpe's strikers. However, Rose soon found their stride and went ahead with a well taken goal by Amy Lawrence. Fellow striker and Player of the Match Lizzie Hare added two more before half time and Bishopthorpe's endeavour was rewarded with a goal to make it 1 - 3 at the interval. Sherburn were comfortable in the second half; midfielders Rosie Bradley and Hannah Davis supported the strike force well and Katie Sadler was rarely troubled in goal. The win was sealed when Lawrence scored her second goal of the match allowing hard-working Bishoptorpe no way back into the game. |

Heworth
U16 Girls 2 – 2 SWRFC U16 Girls
Sherburn had to battle hard to take an important point from an exciting game. The two teams were evenly balanced throughout with Sherburn going ahead midway throughout the first half when a surging run and cross from Hayley Lewis was neatly converted by Amy Lawrence. However, Heworth equalised soon after to make it 1 -1 at half time. Hannah Davis was able to spoil many of the home side's midfield moves, whilst Lucy Beilby defended very strongly against skilful opposition. Rosie Bradley and Lizzie Hare both went close to scoring but Heworth took the lead with 10 minutes to go. They would have increased their lead if it had not been for the heroics of keeper Katie Sadler who made a string of point blank saves in a matter of minutes. However, Sherburn refused to be beaten and equalised when Player of the Match Hayley Lewis ran the length of the pitch and scored with a strong shot from an acute angle. |

SWRFC U16 Girls 2 – 0
Bishopthorpe U16 Girls
Following a lengthy winter lay off Sherburn returned to the league competition with quiet determination and secured a comfortable win against hard working opposition. A deft touch from Lizzie Hare set up Sherburn’s first goal for Amy Lawrence early in the first half and she later returned the favour for her strike partner to put Rose 2 – 0 ahead by half time. There were no goals in the second half although Sherburn enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and were denied numerous opportunities to increase their lead by Bishopthorpe’s keeper. Player of the match Hayley Lewis and fellow defenders Rhiannon Spencer and Lucy Beilby kept Bishopthorpe at bay and Katie Sadler made a superb save to stop a rare opposition shot. Rosie Bradley supported well in midfield as did an indefatigable Hannah Davis. |
| 5th Dec | Whitley Wolverines U16 Girls 0 - 4 SWRFC U16 Girls Sherburn recorded their eighth consecutive victory against hard-working opponents. The home side had the better of the opening exchanges but Sherburn keeper and player of the match Katie Sadler produced a faultless display to keep a clean sheet. After weathering the early pressure Amy Lawrence scored the first of her four goals. Lucy Beilby, Hannah Davis and Rhiannon Spencer defended ably against the Whitley strike force and in the second half, as the home side began to tire, Sherburn had more of the play, with passes from Rosie Bradley creating chances for Lizzie Hare. |
| 28th Nov | SWRFC U16 Girls 3 - 0 Copmanthorpe U16 Girls A below par Sherburn struggled with the windy conditions. The Sherburn attack failed to hit the target with plentiful efforts created for them by Rosie Bradley and player of the match Hannah Davis. The Sherburn defence was rarely troubled with keeper Katie Sadler only called into action for goal kicks. The lack of defensive duties allowed Hayley Lewis and Lucy Bielby the opportunity to make surging breaks from defence. The goals were scored by Amy Lawrence and Lizzie Hare (2) who have now both scored in every league game this season. |
| 15th Nov | Tadcaster Albion U16 Girls 1 - 5 SWRFC U16 Girls Sherburn produced a solid team display to dispatch rivals Tadcaster on their home turf. White Rose all but sealed the points in the first half with a brace each for strikers Lizzie Hare and Amy Lawrence. Confident keeper Katie Sadler dealt with any Tadcaster attacks and was ably assisted in defence by Lucy Beilby, Hayley Lewis and player of the match Rhiannon Spencer. The home side rallied a little in the second half and Tadcaster's goalkeeper made numerous good saves to thwart Sherburn. Midfielders Rosie Bradley and Hannah Davis both went close to scoring before Lawrence completed her hat trick. Tadcaster's endeavours were rewarded with a consolation goal in the dying minutes |
| 9th Nov | SWRFC U16 Girls 9 - 0 Heworth U16 Girls Sherburn enjoyed a comprehensive victory against Heworth who put up a great fight despite being a player short. The home side were slow to start and a battling Heworth team did not allow Sherburn to make their extra player count. Competent defending from Lucy Beilby and faultless goalkeeping from Player of the Match Katie Sadler ensured the home side were not embarrassed in the early stages of the game. However, Rose got into their stride midway through the first half and were 3 - 0 up by half time. As the Heworth girls tired, Sherburn pressed home their advantage. Rhiannon Spencer made some excellent tackles, whilst Hannah Davis and Hayley Lewis set up a feast of chances for the strikers. Five goals from Amy Lawrence, a hat trick from Lizzie Hare and a goal from Rosie Bradley sealed the points to keep Sherburn at the top of the table. |

Copmanthorpe
U16 girls 0 - 8 SWRFC U16 girls Six goals from Player of the Match Amy Lawrence, the highlight being a long range lob over the Copmanthorpe keeper, fired Sherburn to the top of the table for the first time this season. Strike partner Lizzie Hare added the other two goals. Keeper Katie Sadler kept her first clean sheet of the season and Hayley Lewis made an impressive return from a three week lay-off. Free from defensive responsibilities Lucy Beilby and Hannah Davis produced plentiful chances for the Sherburn forwards. Ever improving Reanne Weavill produced her best display for White Rose. |

SWRFC U16 girls 2 - 1 Whitley Wolverines U16 girls Sherburn were made to work hard for this victory by well organised and committed opponents. The home side had much of the possession in the first half and Reanne Weavill joined the midfield. Eventually Sherburn made their superiority count when Amy Lawrence put them ahead with a well taken goal. The second half was a closer affair with keeper Katie Sadler and defender Rosie Bradley working hard to rebuff any Whitley counter attacks. Hannah Davis continued to support the attack well from midfield, enabling Lizzie Hare to put Rose 2-0 up with 10 minutes to go. However Whitley refused to give up and were rewarded with a goal 5 minutes before the end. Player of the Match Lucy Beilby defended superbly to ensure Sherburn held on for a deserved win. |
| 3rd Oct |
Bishopthorpe U16 Girls 1 - 3 SWRFC U16 In a game hampered by windy conditions, Sherburn took the lead when Lizzie Hare finished from close range. The lead was doubled when Hannah Davis took advantage of the home side's defensive hesitancy to slot the ball home. An improving Reanne Weavill was introduced midway through the first half to bolster the midfield. Stand-in keeper Lucy Beilby and defenders Rosie Bradley and player of the match Rhiannon Spencer were untroubled until early in the second half when Bishopthorpe cut the deficit with a goal from a corner. As the home side pushed forward in search of an equaliser, Amy Lawrence scored Sherburn's third to make the match safe. |

SWRFC U16 Girls 6 - 1
Tadcaster Girls U16 A winning combination of precision passing, excellent movement and deadly finishing allowed Sherburn to dominate this match. The home side got off to a flying start and went two up within the first 10 minutes. Lizzie Hare drilled home the first of her brace soon after to give Rose a three goal cushion at half time. Tadcaster recovered somewhat in the second half but were no match for Sherburn's midfield of Hannah Davis and Rosie Bradley. Lucy Beilby was on top form in defence, ably assisted by Rhiannon Spencer and competent keeping from Katie Sadler. Further Sherburn goals followed with Player of the Match Amy Lawrence completing a four goal haul. Tadcaster scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes but it was too little, too late. A terrific team performance from the White Rose girls and on this evidence they can look forward to another successful season. |

Heworth U16
Girls 4 - 2 SWRFC U16 Girls
Missing two key
players through injury meant that Sherburn always faced an
uphill battle against tough opposition and so it proved, despite
the team's valiant efforts. Heworth took an early lead but Amy Lawrence leveeled soon after following some neat passing moves. However the home side went ahead again when the ball rebounded into the Sherburn net shortly before half time. In the second half Rose worked hard to get back on level terms with Rhiannon Spencer and Hayley Lewis defending stoutly. Katie Sadler produced a confident display in goal but was beaten by a well worked Heworth third. Sherburn refused to give up and reduced the deficit to 3-2 when Lizzie Hare deftly converted a White Rose corner. Reanne Weavill tried hard on her league debut but as Sherburn pressed forward for the equaliser Heworth broke away to put the match beyond reach. Player of the Match was Hannah Davis who worked tirelessly in midfield. |
