Barkston Ash District F.A President's Shield Final                                             First Team 4 - 1 FC Boston

Sherburn's improved attitude following a dismal performance at Aberford just two days ago saw the FC Boston keeper make four excellent saves in the opening five minutes. Sherburn fired out of the traps with chances for Mason, Priestley and Sadler all crafted from quick combination play. Booth then blasted a shot from 30 yards and was somehow stopped by the outstretched keeper, whilst Chris Thompson stepped around two defenders before having his shot blocked from a tight angle. The pace of Sherburn's forwards and the deliveries from winger Middleton dominated throughout, but it was Sherburn who went a goal down following a long ball over the top, a Sherburn defender was slow to step up and offered the Boston forward an easy finish past Hudson. Sherburn soon rallied again however, Booth flicking on Middleton's freekick into the net before Sadler scored from Middleton's corner. After the break Sherburn's tempo dropped again and allowed Boston back into the game, forcing Hudson to make two close range saves in a matter of minutes, but Booth's second headed goal of the game from Middleton's cross put the game safe before Preistley was rewarded for his hard work by a one on one finish past the Boston keeper. Whilst the performance was by no means perfect, the response following Saturday's result was fantastic and enabled SWRFC to pick up their first trophy of the 09/10 season.
