West Yorkshire Premier League                                                              First Team 2 - 0 Wetherby Athletic

Sherburn claimed all the points today on the day manager Nick Peacock celebrated his 50th  league game in charge at the club.

Sherburn started the game very well and in their very first attack Priestley was unlucky not to score to take the lead. Sherburn dominated possession and created numerous chances in the half but were unable to take the lead until the stroke of half time when great combination play through Preistley and Williams enabled Williams to finish. Wetherby offered little from free play but being quite a big side could cause problems from set plays.

The second half played out in a similar pattern, Sherburn very dangerous on the counter attack especially through wide players Middleton and Williams. The foundation of the centre midfield was important and Jollands and Booth controlled it very well, so much so that Wetherby made two changes in this area.

Sherburn put the game out of the reach of the home side when Williams - now switched and playing on the right - cut inside to deliver a dangerous ball inside the six yard box which was deflected into the Wetherby goal.

Simon Hudson in the Sherburn goal had a relatively quiet day thanks in the main to a back four including Neil Dixon and Ryan Hudson in for a start after replacing suspended Foreman and Hill (away) after being on the bench last week. Another pleasing situation for the club was that recently 18 year old Bradley Jordan got time on the pitch for the 1st team for the first time this season just another example of the conveyor belt working well at the club.

West Yorkshire Alliance Division 1                                                  Reserves 3 - 0 Kippax

Sherburn faced a physical Kippax team fighting to keep themselves in the Alliance First Division today but were simply too dominant for the home side. Simon Haddock returned from injury to play centre half with Collins, Parnaby reverting back to his full back position. Jackson received his first reserve team start of the season after his scoring form and Sherburn's central midfield was filled by Jamie Wainright and Matthew Wilde (playing his old club). Ben Bradley also made his first start for the reserves with a start in goal.

Sherburn started with a high tempo but tried to force the game in the final third, as soon as they shortened their passing they found plenty of joy in the Kippax half. Jackson scored first, taking the ball down and shifting into space for a thunderous shot past the Kippax keeper. He then had a chance for a second when played into the box by Turton but did not realise how much time he had and rushed his shot wide. Kippax only had one half chance when breaking Sherburn's high line, but keeper Bradley was quick off his line to make a challenge on the approaching forward.

In the second half Turton scored a header from substitute Potter's flick on, before the sub then made it three by sliding the ball under the keeper from inside the box. Kippax went down to ten men after Beaston was scythed in the Kippax half, but to the home side's credit, they pushed on for a consolation and forced two great saves from Bradley; one low dive from a header and one parry from a lob.

Sherburn have now made it six wins from seven and are pulling away from the teams directly below them in the league. Notable performances were had by Wainwright and Bradley in goal, with Turton also impressing by being a nuisance upfront and scoring a good goal.
