Sherburn's
starting eleven
was much changed
from the one
that took the
field on Bank
Holiday Monday.
Five players
were unavailable
due to injury
and were rested
for this
weekend's game.
Coming into the
starting eleven
were Neil Dixon,
Bradley Jordan,
Simon Haddock,
Paul Woodhouse
and Darren
Horsfield. Two
of these players
have spent the
majority of the
season playing
for the second
team, fellow
reserve players
James Beaston,
Jamie Potter and
Richard Collins
were also called
up to complete
the squad
Pool were an
ideal opposition
for these
players to be
given first team
experience, it
just goes to
show how far
this club has
come that
Sherburn are
able to replace
so many players
and still gain a
result.
Sherburn
dominated the
first half and
created chance
after chance but
were unable to
capitalize on
any of these.
Haddock and
Jordan both had
opportunities to
score, whilst
Pool
offered very
little in terms
of a threat and
the half ended
level. The
second half
began very much
the same, with
Sherburn
creating a lot
of chances but
could not
convert.
Centre-half Rob
Foreman had two
good chances
from corners,
and Jordan had
another great
chance to score
at close range
after some great
play from
substitutes
Beaston and
Potter.
Priestley also
had a chance to
score late in
the game, again
meeting
Beaston's cross
but not able to
direct his
effort towards
goal.
Goalkeeper
Hudson was never
brought into the
action and Pool
never looked
like scoring,
overall it was
very
disappointing
that Sherburn
could not find
the net in a
game that
Sherburn should
have won
comfortably.
The management
team have
taken this game
in context
however and are
looking at the
bigger picture
for the players
that were given
an opportunity
today, which can
only improve
them and help
them for future
games.
