West Yorkshire Premier League First Team 3 - 1 Carlton Athletic
Sherburn continued their recent run of good form and results with a second win of the season against champions Carlton in their first home league game since the beginning of November. Carlton played 3-4-3, very narrow with a player playing in the hole in between defence and midfield. Sherburn coped very well with Carlton's system and started the game very brightly and only poor finishing prevented Sherburn from taking the the lead early in the game. Carlton offered very little in attack but with Sherburn unable to be better with the final ball in the final third the game stayed at 0-0 until 5mins before half time, when a counter attack left Marc Bradley one on one with the Goalkeeper who finished expertly to make it 1-0. Sherburn dominated the first half and should have been well in front and had a corner which was headed home by a Carlton Defender to make it 2-0. Due to the chances created, Sherburn shouldn't have relied on the away team to score for them.
Carlton started the second half more positively and did create their only chances of the game in the first 10mins, to which Sherburn succumbed and did allow Carlton to score. Sherburn's reaction to this was positive and they began to make sure they took control of the game. Both teams created chances and it was a very good game to watch a good advert for the standard. Sherburn put the game out of Carlton's reach with an excellent finish from Adam Priestley. Overall an excellent win and good performances were had by all, but Sherburn have lost a lot of points so need to carry on performing at this level every week.

West Yorkshire Alliance Division 1 Reserves 5 - 2 Horbury Town
A Daniel Withington hat-trick helped move the reserves into fourth in the league with a huge game against third place Rothwell Athletic next week. Sherburn were 4-1 up at half time on a steeply sloped pitch and uncertain wind. The reserves were quickly two goals to the good but a breakdown in communication at an attacking corner left an easy counter attack for Horbury. Sherburn then tried to kill the game off, quickly scoring twice, but for the remainder of the half they tried to force the play, attempting defence splitting passes instead of keeping possession and being patient. The second half saw the pitch advantage with the home side who scored in the opening minutes and then pinned Sherburn to their own area for fifteen minutes. The reserves were resolute however and defended strongly before breaking and finishing the game. Jamie Potter netted his 8th of the season whilst Darren Horsfield completed a good move with a sharp finish and celebration to match. Notable praise went to Jamie Middleton who had a hand in every goal and Bishop at full back also had a strong game.

Selby and District Invitation Division 2 Third Team 3 - 0 Selby RSSC
Chris Young scored his first senior goal for the club to help the third team keep their promotion hopes alive. Sherburn have now done the double over Selby RSSC and face a tough run of fixtures if they are serious about competing for a good league finish. Liam Quirk netted his first of the season whilst a Selby own goal also contributed to the victory.
