West Yorkshire Alliance Division 1 Reserves 8 - 2 Ripon City
Sherburn finally got the kind of result that had been begging to happen all season with their largest win of the season away at Ripon City. Jamie Wainwright, Middleton and Dixon stepped into the squad as did Tom Lancashire from the third team.
Middleton opened the scoring within the first ten minutes with an individual effort followed quickly by a headed goal from Collins. Middleton then tore the Ripon back four to pieces with his pace, as did Beaston on the wing. Sherburn's adopted 4-5-1 formation was simply too overpowering for the home side and more goals quickly followed. Dixon made it 3-0 before a soft counter attack gifted the home side with a chance to come back, but Middleton and Dixon scored again to make it 5-1 before half time.
The game grew scrappy in the second half as the home pitch quickly tore up under the heavy rain and Sherburn's football became less convincing. They still looked fearsome on the break however, with Middleton completing his hat trick, Beaston netting his first of the season and Wainwright completing the away side's scoring. Ripon pulled another back, but Horsfield and Beaston both had further chances to score, and the referee blew for full time just as Hudson was towering at the back post on a Sherburn corner. A very convincing win.
