West Yorkshire Premier League First Team 2 - 0 Otley Town
The first team went top of the league today after winning comfortably at home. A goal from Jim Jollands and Lee Gemmill was enough to raise Sherburn's spirits after being knocked out of the County Cup the previous week.

West Yorkshire Alliance Division 1 Reserves 0 - 1 Beeston St Anthony's
The reserves could have closed the gap on the top three today but even a fantastic performance away at Beeston St Anthony's wasn't enough to steal any points. Sherburn started the stronger side, playing neat football all over the pitch with James Beaston having plenty of the ball and combining well with Potter. Jordan could have put Sherburn in front early on but saw his lob beat the keeper and take an unfortunate bounce over the crossbar. Haddock also had an effort at the back post but blasted wide. Beeston created very little, Hudson and Collins dealing with the home side's strong forwards but could do nothing to prevent the winning goal; after plenty of success with a tight offside line a Beeston forward broke free, cut inside Parnaby and scored from close range.
In the second half Beeston barely created anything. Sherburn dominated all over the park and spent the majority of the second forty-five applying as much pressure as possible. Haddock smashed a free-kick against the crossbar, Potter missed two chances from successive corners and Neil Dixon's left footed half volley skimmed the bar as he shot over. But for all Sherburn's efforts, none hit the target and the home keeper had very little to do. The reserves will be relishing another crack at Beeston and face another team competing for the league title next week. Beaston and Collins received praise from the manager as did O'Neill who started before Horsfield (returning to the squad after holiday).

Selby and District Invitation League Cup Third Team 2 - 3 Fairburn
The third team were desperately unlucky not to beat local rivals Fairburn in the first round of the League Cup. Sherburn were surely the underdogs against Division 1 opposition, but it took a last minute winner to progress to the next round. After failing to capitalise on numerous chances, the third team lacked the cutting edge needed finish some excellent football. Manager Paul Roberts hopes his young side can take the same attitude and performance into next week's league game against Selby RSSC.
